Vincies invovled in fatalities in T&T

According to news out of Trinidad and Tobago (T&T), in separated incidents, two Vincentians died under tragic, circumstances.
Kirtland “Rude Boy” Forde 38 reportedly, died after being stabbed in the arm and chest.
The incident which occurred around 12:30am, last Friday, is said to have happened in Faustin Trace, Maravel, where Forde a mason, was stabbed during an altercation with some friends.
A group of friends were drinking and liming when an argument and a fight broke out. It was during this time Forde was stabbed with a knife.
Forde was rushed to the Hospital by a neighbour, where he was pronounced dead.
The T& T police feels an arrest is imminent.
When T&T, police responded to a report of gunshots around 9:30pm , last Wednesday 13th  June in the Beetham Gardens. They found the lifeless body of Vincentian Yrvin Feliciano Stephens.
The 33 year- old, along with another man 38- year-old, Trinidadian Sean Michael Sabazon, were found by the side of the road. Their feet were bound and they were lying face down on the ground.
Reportedly Sabazon’s, blue Peugeot , which was parked nearby, was on fire.
Some 17 rounds of spent 5.56 shells were also found at the scene. The ammunition is believed to be from powerful weapon similar to an AK-47 or Galil.
According to the Police both men are not from the area and they strongly believe they were there possible to buy drugs.

Cane End youth gunned down

Last Friday evening, the normally very quiet village of Cane End, Marriaqua, was the scene of much activities, following a bout of gunshots that rang out and could be held for miles.
Villages recorded hearing about 7 gunshots, following was the discovery of the lifeless born of Curtis ‘Lyndon’ Browne lying on the streets about 50 ft from his home.
Reports are that Lyndon was awaiting a friend, when a white car approached and a hail of  shots rang out from the vehicle.

He was said to be shot at least 3 times about his body. The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force apparently identify the shells of 8 spent bullets.
For this family its yet another difficult period, in December, Last year, Lindon’s younger brother Shanroy Browne, 18, along with three other youths from the area who were held on remanded at Her Majesty’s Prison after appearing at the Serious Offences Court.
This in connection with the murder of Lisbon Lavia of Sandy Bay.
Lavia, 20, died after receiving multiple stab and chop wounds about his body on December 19, at Heritage Square. It is alleged that a fight broke out between Lavia and a group of men, which resulted in his death.
The brother is still in custody.

 

Adonal Foyle holds AA camps

NBA veteran Vincentian Adonal Foyle.

Adonal Foyle and the Kerosene Lamp Foundation (KLF) will during this week hold its biennial Athletics and Academics Camps on mainland St Vincent.
The three Camp will take place from July 20 to 23.

Along with the day camp, Foyle has initiated, a special All-Star edition of the Camps for one hundred children throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines where the children will come together for three days to learn basketball skills, HIV/AIDS awareness, nutrition, leadership, sports psychology, how to improve their readings skills and more. This will run for three days.
The camps are led by Foyle, with assistance from a mix of coaches from America and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
The youths are expected to receive life lessons and skills they will also receive free books, t-shirts, along with a goody bags to take home.
Following the St Vincent camp, Foyle and his team will move to his hometown, Canouan, in the Grenadines, where from July 25th the traditional day-camp will be conducted for youngsters on the Grenadine islands.
The 2011 edition of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines leg, has been made possible by the Bequia Basketball Association, Caribbean Healthy Lifestyle Project, Ingrid Foyle-Samuel, Karib Cable, Lorson Lewis, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth & Sport, National Sports Council, Owen Isaacs, Roseman Adams, Sabrina Mitchell, St. Vincent Grammar School, Tamarind Beach Hotel and the Young Island Resort

Vincy Stalwart/ Proprietor passes in NY

 The Vincentian community in Brooklyn, NY, is still in a state of shock over the passing of one of it stalwart business man.
Douglas Ancil Clouden Sr better known as “Nick”  proprietor of Vincy Bakery- St Vincent Bakery on Nostrand Ave, New York, USA died on Sunday 3rd July after been admitted to Downstate Hospital on the previous Thursday 30th June.
For many it is still a surprise, as Nick seem to be in the pink of health, up to hours, prior to being admitted.
Daughter Kerline “Tina’ Clouden, said that Thursday morning began as usual with breakfast and him leaving home as normal.
She said later she received a call from her dad saying “Your daddy don’t feel well”. That was to be one of the last conversations she had with him.
After taking him to the emergency room and he was admitted, his condition worsen.
“He was full of life, everyone loved him, he always joking around and he love helping people.”
“It took a lot to get my dad angry he was always in a joyful mood,” Tina said of her dad.
While Nick was loved and cherished by many, there is one among them, who notable is mourning the loss of someone who was “truely like a brother”. Dave Rodriguez has been at the establishment owned by Nick since 1992, but his friendship with Nick span over three decades.Dave has been a fixture at the Bakery since it was Authur’s Bakery back in the 80’s and he was still residing in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Dave who could be described as the Manager and all other positions, recalled his last conversation with Nick on Thursday, “he left me here saying he going to Queens,” Later it was his daughter who called me to tell me he was in the emergency room.
“He seemed ok, he was complaining or crying for any pain, He was the normal, he looked as if something was wrong.’
” I never got to speak to him again, that’s the difficult part. We saw each other every day and spoke often. I really miss him,” Dave who many is morning silently, lamented sadly.
Dave share the sentiments of daughter Tina, “Nick was always a cool, sincere person, he never turn anyone away. We have the same kind of attitude I guess that why we connect so, Dave speak of the bond they shared.
Nick was a former student of the Emmanuel High School in SVG. He migrated to the USA in 1966, to study Air-Condition and Engineering. A former employee with Pacific Ball (now known as Verizon), Nick retired in November 2010, after over 35 years of service.
In 1982, along with his nephew Arthur’s he branched off into the business field when they opened the Bakery.
An ace cricketer, he was one of the founding member of the Cavalier’s Sport Club, and served as Captain for several years.
The Father of twelve was laid to rest last Friday after a service at the St Marks United Methodist Church on Beverly Road where Pastor Glyger Beache and Deputy Consul General and Pastor Edson Augustus presided.
The Deputy also read a message from the consulate.
Vincy Bakery/St Vincent Bakery does not only provide persons with delicacies, and Vincy Newspapers, it serves as a hub for much Vincy and Caribbean discussion and debates on sports, politics and many others
 

Vincy Mas in high gear

VIncy Mas 2011 intensifies as the count down continue to the grand finally in two days time.

Tomorrow Monday 4th July begins with J’Ouvert beginning at 4;ooam. This will continue with Monday evening street jump up from 4;oopm. Monday street party features the t-shirts bands, some of the bands are Lime, Mustique Company, Foreign Base 1 and 2, Building and Loan GHS, Fun Time Promotions and the CDC NLA Band.
The Curtains comes down on Tuesday July 5th, with Mardi Gras at the Victoria Park from 10 a.m. with steel band music.Some 13  bands Guinness/Y De Lima/Hitz FM 103.7 Blonde Bird & Friends, KFC Heineken Dragons, SVG General Services Players International, Digicel / Hitz FM 103.7 Nelson Bloc, Mirage Productions, Owen Ralph and the Professionals, Beautex International, Sting Power-Searchlight Tribes Carnival Band, Imagination, Ahdrenalin Mas, Melbourne Artisans, Xtreme Fanatics and Aunt Jobe’s Market/ Metrocint General Insurance Co Ltd High Voltage Mas Band, are set to cross the stage at Victoria Park, from about 11 a.m..
The 2011 Carnival celebrations end on Tuesday July 5th at 10 p.m.

 

Calypso Monarch clash tonight in Dimanche Gras

-The count down has begun as ten Calypsians take the stage at Carnival City Victoria Park, in an attempt to dethrone current Monarch Bridgette ‘Joy C’ Creese, and capture the title of 2011 Calypso Monarch in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

As part of tonight Sunday 3rd July, Dimanche Gras show, two other females along with eight males will take reigning monarch Joy-C to task as they aim to stop her from doing the hat-trick.

On stage will be three former Monarches Michael ‘Lord of Mercy’  Ollivierre, Glenroy ‘Sulle’ Ceasar, and Carlos ‘Rejector’ Providence. Veterans, Kingsley Hero’ Roberts and Elvis ‘Abijah’ Abbey are also on the card.

Elliott ‘Mystery’ Shallow is making his comeback

Newcomers females Javelle ‘Lady Diamond’ Frank Aurella “Queen B’ Beache, along with Shernelle ‘Skarpyon’ Williams and Maxwell ‘Tajo’ Francis make up tonights cast.

The King and Queen of the Bands are also a major part of Dimanche Gras, some thirteen mas bands will participate. Following which persons take to the streets of Kingstown for J’Ouvert from 4am.

 

 

 

Hector slams another ton in BCL

Century maker Donwell Hector

 St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Windwards middle order batsman, Donwell Hector hit his second successive century in the Brooklyn Cricket League (BCL),when he hit 113 not out last Saturday at Marine Park A.

This followed his 119 made the previous weekend.

Hector’s knock consisted of five fours and fives sixes, as he batted all of the 30 overs. Dominic Audain made 41 not out, as the Vincentian outfit Middlesex posted 226 for 3.

Brooklyn Knights replied with 195 all out. Moshim Bhatti top scored with 49, which included 6 sixes.  Mark Audain 2 for 20, Dominic Audain 2 for 28, Mc Nevin OGarro 2 for 28, and former West Indies fast bowler Adam Sanford 2 for 35, as Middlesex won by 31 runs

Also in winner’s row was another Vincy team Cavaliers in their match against Warriors. Taking first strike Warriors made 223. Albert Tesheira 2 for 23 and Peter Haywood 2 for 33, bowling for Cavaliers.

Replying Cavaliers reached 224 for 9, Albert Tesheira top scored with 54, Brian Henry 42 and Cameron Cuffy 26 were the chief scorers.

But for Imperial, it was lose one, win one.

On Saturday at Marine Park D, Imperial scored 145 all out in 23 overs. Orient Bostic struck 45. Zafar Khan took 3 for 26 and Junaid Qasim 2 for 13.  Punjabin their turn at the crease got to 146 for 2 in 23 overs, winning the match by 8 wickets. Bilal Ahmad made 79 not out and Adnan Khan 37 not out.

 Imperial, though made amends against their fellow countrymen Queensbury on Sunday.

Taking first strike, Imperial amassed 252 for 8 in 34 overs. Kester Sylvester, the formerGrenadaand Windwards opener, scored 117 not out.  

Andrew McCarthy bagged 4 for 30 and Joseph Shortte 2 for 37.  

 Replying, Queensbury’s innings could only get as far as 121 all out in 25 overs. 

Mark Lawerence had figures of 4 for 43, Shamroy Primo 3 for 27 and Arthur Caines 2 for 12, as Imperial romped to a 131 runs triumph.

In matches thisIndependenceweekend,  on Saturday, at Mpk A      faces Diplomats at Mpk B , it will be   Carriacou    versus    Jinnah at Mpk C     Panthers     meets s    Warriors, while at Mpk D     Grenada     takes on     Challengers and at Sea View, Brooklyn Knights faces Pak Kashmir.  On Sunday , at Mpk A     Pak Kashmir      faces off with Brooklyn Knights at Mpk B     Jinnah      will oppose     Queensbury, at Mpk C     St. Lucia      opposes   Shaheen at Sea View  Wanderers    do battle with Carriacou.
